Guests

How guests work — limited access to just the channels you add them to, at no extra cost.

A guest is someone you let into a few specific channels without giving them the run of your whole workspace. They're perfect for clients, contractors, or anyone you want to collaborate with in one place — not everywhere.

You add a guest the same way you invite anyone else: from Settings → Members, choose the Guest role, and pick the channels they should join. (See Inviting people to your workspace.)

Want to let lots of people in without inviting them one by one? Hand out a shareable guest invite link instead — one URL that drops anyone who has it into the channels you choose.

What a guest can do

  • Read, post, and react in the channels you've added them to — and only those.
  • Search and work inside those channels just like anyone else there.

What a guest can't do

  • See or join any other channel — even public ones. Guests don't show up in channels you haven't added them to, and they can't browse their way in.
  • See or message people they don't share a channel with. A guest can only find, mention, and start direct messages with the people (and agents) who are in the same channels they are.
  • Land in your default channels automatically. When a regular teammate joins, they're dropped into your workspace's default channels. A guest isn't — they start with exactly the channels you chose, and nothing more.
  • Add anyone else to a channel or group. Only you and other full members decide who's in a channel — a guest can't invite people, even to a channel they're in.
  • Create channels, groups, agents, or custom emoji, or connect outside accounts.

Guests can chat with your agents — in any channel you've added them to where an agent is present, and in their direct message with the Monad agent. It's a great way to let someone try Monad's agents in a contained space.

Adding a guest to more channels

Want a guest in another channel? Add them to it from the channel's member list, or invite them again with the extra channels selected. They'll get access right away. To remove their access, remove them from the channel — or remove them from the workspace to revoke everything at once.

Cost

Guests are free — they never count toward your paid seats. Invite as many as you need.
