Inviting people to your workspace

When you invite someone to your workspace you can pre-pick the spaces they should join. Those joins happen automatically the moment they accept the invite and finish setting up their account — not at the moment you send the invitation. New people only show up in space rosters once they're actually around.

Sending an invitation#

1. Open Settings → Members and click Invite people.
2. Type an email address and hit Add (or press Enter). Repeat for each person you want to invite.
3. Pick the role for everyone in this batch — Member, Admin, or Guest.
4. (Optional) Add to spaces — see below.
5. (Optional) Add to groups — see below.
6. Click Send N invitations. Monad emails each person a verification link.

If someone cannot find the message, confirm the address and ask them to check their spam folder. You can resend a verification email from the sign-in flow.

Pre-picking spaces#

The Add to spaces section is a search box that works like the rest of the app: type a few letters to filter, click a result (or press Enter) to add it as a pill, and click the × on a pill to remove it.

Three shortcuts are available above the picker as Suggested chips — typically your workspace's default channels like #general and #random. Click any suggested chip to add it to the list with one click.

If you're not sure which spaces fit, click Suggest with AI and describe the person in a sentence or two — "Senior product designer joining the brand team", "Backend engineer on the payments project". Monad picks matching spaces from your workspace and adds them to your selection; you can keep, remove, or extend them before sending.

Pre-picking groups#

The Add to groups section works the same way as Add to spaces, but selects groups instead of individual spaces. Picking a group means the invitee will land in the group on accept, which also gives them access to the group's feed and any default channels the group is set up with — it's the fastest way to drop a new hire onto a team in one click.

Three shortcuts above the picker show your most-active groups as Suggested chips. Click any chip to add it.

What the invitee sees#

The invitee opens the verification link in their email. When they finish account setup:

• They're added to your workspace.
• They land in the workspace's default channels.
• They join every space you pre-picked.
• They join every group you pre-picked, plus that group's feed and default channels.
• They receive a welcome direct message from the Monad agent.

If they never accept, none of those joins happen — your space and group rosters stay clean.

Removing someone from the workspace#

Workspace owners and admins can remove people whose role is below their own:

1. Open Settings → Members.
2. Open the ••• menu beside the person.
3. Choose Remove from workspace, then confirm.

Once Monad accepts the removal, the dialog closes and shows “Access removed. Cleanup will finish in the background.” The person is signed out and loses workspace access immediately. Their row moves to Deactivated accounts while slower cleanup, such as stopping their delegated scheduled tasks, finishes in the background — you do not need to keep the page open.

If the request fails, the confirmation dialog stays open, the person remains active, and the Remove button becomes available again so you can retry.

Removing a member is a reversible soft deactivation, not deletion: their identity and authored messages remain in workspace history, and previous conversations keep showing their name and avatar. Revoked login sessions and scheduled tasks are not restored automatically if the account is later reactivated.

Tips#

• Pre-picking spaces and groups is per batch, not per person. Everyone in the same "Send invitations" click lands in the same places.
• You can send multiple batches with different selections if different people should land in different places.
• The spaces picker only shows regular spaces (no DMs or group feeds), and hides archived ones. The groups picker hides archived groups.
